Elmira: Cops ID body as Corning resident

The person found dead Sunday morning, January 20, in a parked vehicle at the Elmira Tops store has been identified as a 33-year-old Corning man.
Joel E. States was found deceased before 9 a.m. Sunday. He was slumped over in the passenger seat of a vehicle that was parked at Tops on South Main Street.
City police said Sunday that the man had no obvious fatal injuries, such as a gunshot wound, and an exact cause of death won’t be known until autopsy results are returned.
Police are continuing their investigation.
