Five Star Bank in Bath is helping to provide education on living drug free to youth in the community during the last week in October. Red Ribbon Week is an event that millions of people participate in throughout the United States. It commemorates fallen DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena; Kiki was killed by drug traffickers whom he had been investigating. Red Ribbon Week is observed in thousands of schools and communities October 24 through the 31 to help youth celebrate living drug free.
Five Star Bank has donated five hundred dollars to Steuben Council on Addictions to sponsor Red Ribbon Week activities at the Bath-Haverling school district for the third year in a row. The funds were used for prizes to encourage students to choose a healthy substance free lifestyle. Steuben Council on Addictions presented an informative and interactive assembly for fourth and fifth graders, and another for sixth through eighth graders.
