In a Bath Village Board meeting Monday night the Fire Police of the Bath Volunteer Fire Department were recognized by the Village Board for their time and dedication to support the Village of Bath, and the Bath Police Department. The group are also Auxiliary Police for the Bath Village Police Department. They put in countless hours, many times unrecognized for their volunteer efforts.
The group is put to work at nearly every call the Bath Fire Department responds to for traffic and crowd control and securing the scene of an incident. They play a vital role in the safety of the firefighters working the scene of an incident to keep them safe from oncoming traffic and also to keep lanes open for other emergency vehicles.
Bath Village Police Chief David Rouse also calls for their assistance for many things throughout the year such as traffic control and re-routing traffic, sometimes for long periods of time for events like traffic accidents, parade routes, loss of traffic lights during a power outage, The Wine Glass Marathon and others. They are not only traffic cops, but also security officers. Many times they have been called in for school functions and other security details. On Halloween they tour the village in their own private vehicles to keep trick or treater’s safe and also to be on the lookout for pranksters. Many thanks to the guys behind the scene!
