The Bath Rotary Club was entertained at its December 6th luncheon meeting by the Haverling Chamber Choir.  The choir is a select ensemble comprised of 9th – 12th grade students at the local school who are selected through a competitive audition.  In the group there are thirty singers and a student accompanist under the direction of Neil J. Bryson, Director of Music and teacher of grades 9 – 12 vocal music and grades 5 – 6 chorus for the Bath-Haverling Central School District.  The group performs four regularly scheduled concerts a year at the local school and also sings at various community functions throughout the year.  Many of the students in this ensemble have been selected for various honor choirs, sponsored by the Steuben County Music Teachers’ Association and the New York State School Music Association.
The group sang selections from Phantom of the Opera and several Christmas carols, including Silent Night, Deck the Halls, You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Angels We have Heard on High, and Still, Still, Still.  The local Rotarians thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful sounds of the season and the outstanding talent of these young people. It was even noted the dedication of the group to perform on that Thursday since school itself was not in session due to a teachers’ conference.
At the end of the performance, Becky Stranges, Bath Rotary Club President, thanked the choir for filling the room with song as well as providing music throughout the year for the entire community to enjoy.
The Bath Rotary Club meets every Thursday at noon at the Bath Country Club.
