Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies conducted their third pot bust in eight days Wednesday, arresting the alleged grower and seizing marijuana plants and pot growing equipment from a farm in Tuscarora.

Victoria M. Wilkinson, 51, of Sprague Road was charged with the misdemeanor growing cannabis without a license.

Sheriff’s investigators said the 7 p.m. raid at the remote location was conducted after several weeks of surveillance of the indoor marijuana growing operation.

Deputies said they were allowed to search the Wilkinson mobile home and surrounding property and found a room in the home set up for growing marijuana year-round. Some 18 marijuana plants and the “mother” plants were seized along with the equipment, according to the report.

The Tuscarora bust follows larger raids last week in the towns of Wheeler and Greenwood.

Nearly 400 marijuana plants were seized Aug. 17 from cornfields in the town of Wheeler, and 17 more were found later Tuesday night near Greenwood, the Sheriff’s department reported.
Wilkinson was issued an appearance ticket and will appear at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 in Tuscarora Town Court.

Anyone who would like to report a marijuana-growing operation can contact Sr. Inv. Eric Tyner at 776-7009 or can leave an anonymous tip at www.steubencony.org/sheriff.
