On November 9th, a group of Mobility Managers and Transportation Advisors from nine rural counties convened at the Institute for Human Services in Bath, NY to discuss transportation issues and collaborate on solutions to improve and connect public transportation routes and services and to strategize about solutions for uniquely rural transportation problems.
Kelly Duby, Mobility Manager for Steuben County stated “It was a great opportunity to meet and collaborate with other Mobility Managers today, especially since multiple counties were at the table. Because Steuben County is so rural we have our own unique set of challenges surrounding our demographics and public transportation riders. As Mobility Managers we are looking at ways to connect routes and improve transportation options for people to be able to get to medical appointments, employment opportunities, college, or just go shopping.  The new transportation hub in Corning presents an opportunity to connect some of those dots and will be very convenient for our bus riders. In a Tri- County effort, Steuben, Schuyler and Chemung are continuing to work closely on several different projects together as well.”
