Edward F. Pigford, age 75, of Bath, NY died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Josephs Hospital in Elmira, NY after a short illness. He was born April 21, 1937 in Calypso, NC the son of Hicks and Helen (Adams) Pigford. He was employed with Westinghouse in NJ and Philips Lighting in Bath where he retired in 2003. Mr. Pigford enjoyed laughing and joking with family and friends, reunion trips to NC, yard sales and auctions, “buying junk and selling antiques”, being the family handyman, fishing, raising flowers and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Pigford; two daughters, Laura Steinert and her husband Art of Parsippany, NJ and Sherry Sutton and her husband Chris of Savona, NY; three grandchildren, Kelly Steinert, Zachary Sutton and Ashley Steinert; brother, Thomas Pigford and his wife Rita of Granthem, NC; sister, Adele Baker of Calypso, NC; and his beloved dog Mandy. He was predeceased by two brothers, Elias and Douglas Pigford; and two sisters, Mary Vernon and Virginia Yde.
Friends may call from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath, funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Fred Dyer officiating. Burial will be in Nondaga Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.fagansfuneralhome.com.
