Two men arrested on felony drug charges last year in Bath have been indicted on murder charges for allegedly killing a man weeks earlier during a robbery in Rochester, village police said Tuesday.
Michael D. Williams, 20, and Treyquan J. Davis, 16, were recently charged with two counts of second- degree murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and single count of second-degree assault.
Williams and Davis are accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Alexander Marquez during a Jan. 5, 2012, robbery. Two other men ― one shot, one pistol-whipped ― were injured during the robbery.
About seven weeks later, Williams and Davis were arrested at a Bath apartment.
According to authorities, a neighbor called police around 2 a.m. Feb. 28 to report a loud noise coming from Apt. 114 at 14 W. Washington St. When officers arrived, they recovered 10 bags of crack cocaine. Police said the apartment’s occupants ― Williams, Davis and tenant Frank J. Lenino, 47 -― were attempting to get rid of the drugs by flushing them down the toilet.
At the time of the murder indictment, Williams was serving two years in prison in connection with his Bath arrest. He faces a life sentence if convicted of murder.
Davis, who was 15 at the time of the killing, has been incarcerated since his Bath arrest, police said. He is charged with murder as a juvenile offender and could face a lighter sentence if convicted.
On Tuesday, Bath police said they were unaware of the murder investigation when they arrested Williams and Davis last year.
