Allegedly drunk Cohocton man texts, hits garage in Wayland

Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies reported Sunday, Jan. 8, that a vehicle operated by Michael Hamilton, 44, of Cohocton struck a garage located at 1472 County Route 90.
The accident occurred because Hamilton was texting, deputies said, as he was driving south on County Road 90 in the Town of Wayland.
There was no one inside the garage, and Hamilton was charged with texting while operating a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, driving while having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater and failing to stay in the designated lane.
