Steuben County RSVP recognized all their volunteers at the 39th annual event and luncheon on Thursday, June 14th, 2012.  The French theme for the event this year was “Oui Appreciate You”, and was held for approximately 175 individuals at the Watson Homestead.
Joseph Hauryski, Chairman of the Steuben County Legislature, was on hand to read the proclamation designating the date as the RSVP Recognition Day in Steuben County, and to serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
The lunch was served by RSVP staff and volunteers from various organizations throughout the county wishing to give back to the volunteers on this special day of recognition.    RSVP had assistance from employees from United Way of the Southern Tier, Catholic Charities, ProAction, Corning Museum of Glass, the Pregnancy Resource Center, Judge Joe Latham, Steuben County Office for Aging, and Steuben Senior Services Fund in serving the volunteers during the luncheon.  Entertainment was provided by Mr. William Locke, who sang various selections for all the volunteers.  Our special décor included a living French market scene with a mural completed by Mr. Kory Merritt’s elementary art students from Hammondsport, and our “French” painter, Mr. Michael Moretti, local artist from Hammondsport, who completed a still life during the event in the style of Cezanne.
One individual was given special recognition after the luncheon.  Mr. Rick Pinneo received the Louise Argentieri Memorial Award as the volunteer that contributed the most hours in 2011.  Mr. Pinneo volunteers at Steuben Coordinated Transportation and contributed over 900 hours during the course of the year completing 226 transports and traveling an astounding 27,841 miles to take individuals to medical and other necessary appointments.
