Philip E. Dartt, 83, of County Route 119 passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 27, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Phil was born August 14, 1928 in Wellsburg to Thornton and Kathryn (Ridge) Dartt. On March 29, 1953, in Corning he married Winifred Cole who survives and resides in Cameron Mills. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, David Dartt; and three brothers, Keith, Carlton and Jerry Dartt.
Phil had attended Addison Central School before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had worked as a machinist for 37 years from 1953-90 at the former Ingersoll/Rand in Painted Post.
In addition to his wife, Winifred Dartt, Phil is survived by a son, Alan (Beth) Dartt of Cameron; daughter, Helen (Cameron) Dunlap of Corning; three grandchildren, Kasey Dartt, Nicholas Dartt and Nicole Dunlap. He is also survived by a sister, Carolyn Conwell of Horseheads; sister-in-law, Maxine Dartt of Cameron; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family may receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Mort Gridley officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Townline Cemetery, Cameron, Mills.
