Shirley Brayton Lyke, age 77, of Savona, NY, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Bath Veterans Administration Medical Center, Bath, NY. He was born April 25, 1934 in Howard, NY the son of Brayton and Frances Edwards Lyke. He was a member of the Pomona Grange. Shirley worked for Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, NY and was the previous owner of, Green Acres Campground in Savona, and the Savona Trading Post. He was an Army Veteran.
He is survived by his daughters, Doreen (Craig) Palmer of Bath, NY and Wendy (Donny) Slavin of FL; three sons, Roger (Paula) Lyke of FL, Marvin Lyke of West Virginia and Kenneth (Kim) Lyke of FL; eight grandchildren, Michael Peck, Kelly Lyke, Casey Lyke, Adam Slavin, Samuel Lyke, Cassidy Lyke, Zachary Slavin and Blake Palmer; brother, Eldon (Pat) Lyke of Prattsburgh, NY; three sisters, Joyce Baker of Dansville, NY, Laura (Austin) Saxton of Wayland, NY and Mary Etta (Chuck) Saxton of Cohocton, NY; sister-in-law, Brenda (Larry) Burton of Bath; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Ann Lyke in 1999; son, Carl Lyke; and brother, Clarence Lyke.
Friends may call from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, January 29 at Fagan’s Funeral Home in Bath. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Ron Huckabone officiating.
Burial will held at 3 p.m. Monday, January 30 at the Howard Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the the Bath V.A.M.C. Voluntary Services Hospice Unit, 76 Veterans Avenue, Bath, NY 14810and the Finger Lakes S.P.C.A. 7315 Route 54, Bath, NY 14810. Online condolences may be made at fagansfuneralhome.com.
