Violation of probation

BATH | Dylon Lee Little, 21, 37 Belfast St., was charged Jan. 12 with violation of probation.

Petit Larceny
• BATH | Brett Matthew Schaffer, 26, of 225 1/2 Liberty St., was charged Jan. 13 with petit larceny.
• BATH | Harold Guy Warner, 24, of 6 Chestnut St., Apt. 101, was charged Jan. 13 with petit larceny.

STEUBEN SHERIFFS
Violation of probation warrant

• BATH | Deputies report the arrest of James A. Lass, 25, of W. Morris Street, Bath on Wednesday. Lass was arrested while at the Steuben County Office Building, Bath at 3:25 p.m. on a violation of probation warrant. Lass was arraigned in Steuben County Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail on no bail. Lass will appear in Steuben County Court at a later date to answer charges.
• BATH |  Deputies report the arrest of Christopher G.G. Castro, 24, of Main Street, Dansville. Castro was arrested while at the Steuben Count Office Building at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on a violation of probation warrant. Castro was arraigned in Steuben County Jail and was remanded to the Steuben County Jail. Castro will appear in Steuben County Court at a later date to answer charges.

Felony violation of probation warrant
SAVONA | Deputies report the arrest of a Savona resident of Tuesday. Jake Smith, 35, of Eagle Valley Road, Savona was charged with felony violation of probation on a warrant issued by the Steuben County Probation Department. Smith was arraigned in Steuben County Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail. He will reappear in County court at a later date.

Parole violation/criminal possession of a controlled substance
GREENWOOD | Deputies report the arrest of a town of Jasper man Friday, January 11. Joshua R. Oles, 33, of State Route 417, Greenwood, was arrested at his residence by NYS Parole on a warrant for a Parole Violation. During Oles arrest a quantity of suspected Oxycodone and methadone tablets along with a black plastic tube with a white powder substance were seized from the kitchen table. Oles was then charged by deputies with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Oles was arraigned in the town of Avoca court on the third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charge and remanded to the Steuben County Jail with bail set at $25,000 cash/$50,000 property. On the parole warrant Oles was remanded on no bail.

Several charges
CORNING | Steuben County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit reports the arrest of a Corning female in connection with a forged check scheme that occurred in Steuben and Chemung Counties in the past month.
Tiffany M. Vanzile, 20, of W. First Street, Corning was charged with tampering with evidence, after investigators discovered that she had destroyed materials used in the forging of several checks to local banks and businesses. Vanzile is scheduled to appear in the city of Corning court at a later date.
Deputies previously charged Zackery J. Johnson, 21, and John E. Sabins, 22, also of W. First Street, Corning on January 4, 2013 with fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree possessing a forged instrument. Johnson and Sabins are both incarcerated in the Steuben County Jail awaiting further court dates.
The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.

Controlled substance
CANASERAGA | Deputies report the arrest of a 19 year old woman of Church Street, Canaseraga on Thursday. The arrest follows a drug investigation which was initially begun by the Hornell Police Department. Hornell officers arrested a different subject for possession of a controlled substance which resulted with information regarding the substance being purchased in the parking lot of the “711” gas station in Arkport from the female defendant. Hornell Police notified the Sheriff's Department concerning the information they received which resulted in deputies charging the female defendant with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. The defendant was arraigned in the town of Hornellsville court. The defendant was released on her own recognizance and was ordered by the court to reappear at a later date.
