Three Lady Rams youth basketball players recently competed at the second level of the Elks Club Hoop Shoot foul shooting contest. The contest was held on Sunday, January 8 at St. Bonventure University. The Elks Club Hoop Shoot is a nationwide program sponsored by the Elks. Players first compete in a local level competition, organized by the Bath Elks Lodge 1547, which was held at the Haverling gym on December 10th. Winners from the local competition, which is open to girls and boys from Avoca, Bath, Bradford, Campbell, Prattsburgh and Savona, then move onto the second level.
In the 8-9 year old age category, Bath’s Abigail Spiess, in her first year competing, earned second place by making 9 out of 25 foul shots. The next age group is 10-11 year olds in which Bath’s Jadyn Abrams was the champion after making 19 out of 25 shots. Lastly in the 12-13 year old group, Bath’s Kyara Wilson finished second with 16 out of 25.
Abrams will join Bath’s Brendan Strong, who won the boys 8-9 year old division, at the regional level contest which will be held at Red Creek High School in February.
