All eight contested matches ended by pinfall, with Addison taking the lion’s share in a 60-18 victory at home against Avoca in Tuesday’s SCAA wrestling meet.
Five forfeits broke up the action, but when there was competition, the wrestlers rose to the occasion.
“A lot of pins. We’re getting ready for sectionals and we need to get in shape. I’ve got some quality kids who should do OK at sectionals,” said Addison coach Frank Bielski, whose team is 15-8 overall and 4-1 in league play entering Thursday’s SCAA finale against Alfred-Almond.
Addison’s Trey DuVall recorded the quickest pin of the match at 28 seconds in the 145-pound class, while Ward Hively provided the longest match at 182 pounds – Hively needing 5:42 to record his pin for the Knights. The Bylar boys – Elam (126 pounds) and Israel (138) came away winners, while Clyde Carey (132) and Noah Burton (152) each scored pins in 1:48.
Avoca was led by Shawn Fox’s pin in 1:51 at 120 pounds, while Ben Knoll won at 160 pounds in 3:26.
The Knights have two more dual meets before sectionals begin next weekend.
