Jill Smith, a teaching assistant at VEW primary school, has been presented with the 2012 Doris Bovee Award Outstanding Woman Educator Award. This award is given by the Beta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International. Delta Kappa Gamma International is an invitational organization whose membership is composed of key women educators.
Jill received this award as a woman changing her career to the field of education. Working as a teaching assistant with struggling learners, she discovered her passion for teaching. Jill believes in a child-centered classroom environment in which instruction is differentiated to meet diverse student needs. Jill’s training as a literacy specialist along with her enthusiasm for education and concern for her students’ success make her an ideal candidate for this award.
