Lori Gordon did a little bit of everything Tuesday for ninth-seeded Hammondsport, leading the Lakers to a win on the road against No. 8 Fillmore in the first round of the Section V, Class D1 girls basketball tournament.

Gordon scored 17 points, pulled down 18 rebounds, made six assists and six steals for Hammondsport (6-12), while Corinne House got hot from the arc, knocking down four 3-pointers for 12 points and Olivia McKerrick chipped in seven points. Fillmore (6-12) was led by Katie Faulkner’s game-high 21 points, which included four 3-pointers, and Kassi Bailey netted 10 points.

Hammondsport took a 26-20 lead into halftime, then pushed that to a 10-point advantage in the third quarter to put some distance on host Fillmore.

“We came out strong in the third quarter, but really we played well in all four quarters,” said Hammondsport coach Kelley Meade. “The defensive effort in the third quarter was the key and (the 3-pointers) didn’t hurt either.”

The Lakers advance to face top-seeded Elba on the road Friday at 7 p.m.

Time Change Today’s Section IV, Class C first round boys basketball game between No. 3 Elmira Notre Dame and No. 14 Delhi will be played at 6 p.m. at the Southport high school. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but moved up to accommodate Delhi’s long travel.
