Savona man facing several charges

Troopers arrested a Savona man on nine charges Thursday night after he allegedly broke into an acquaintance’s apartment and stole a vehicle.
Jacob R. Eygabroat, 34, is accused of breaking into an estranged acquaintance’s apartment - in violation of a protection order - and taking the acquaintance’s car keys. He then drove away in the acquaintance’s vehicle, Bath-based New York State Police said.
Police stopped the vehicle while Eygabroat was driving and arrested him.
Eygabroat was charged with four felonies: Second- degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of .08 with a prior conviction, and driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years, according to police.
Eygabroat was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal contempt, unlawful possession of marijuana, no license, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
He was sent to the Steuben County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
