The Dormann Library is pleased to be hosting guest artist, Joyce Schwartz from Campbell from 6-7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, March 13 at the Library.  Joyce did art in high school and rediscovered her passion for creating when her two children left home. She works in watercolors, acrylics, and oils, but her favorite is doing mixed media work.  As a member of the Elmira Regional Art Society, her work has been shown many places around the area. If you have any questions for Joyce about her artwork or her creative process stop in to see her at the library. Many of the displayed works are for sale, if you decide that there is a picture that you can’t live without. Please stop in and see her lovely work.
Hey, teens – Did you know that March 10-16 is National Teen Tech Week? The Dormann Library wants to invite teens in to “Check In @ your library and Get Your Tech On!”
To that end, the library invites Christine M., an educator with from Planned Parenthood of the Southern Finger Lakes, to the library to share some tips and strategies to help protect yourself on-line from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Friday, March 15, she will be offering a program geared for middle schooled-aged youth on “Safe Text.” This program will help kids think about what it means to use technology in a safe, smart way while protecting their privacy.
From 5- 6 p.m., Christine will shift gears and address high school-aged youth and adults on a slightly different topic: Technology and Relationships.  She will ask the audience to look at how technology impacts our relationships in both positive and negative way, including some discussion on texting and Facebook etiquette.  Both programs are free and open to the public.  As a place in our community with free computer access, we want our patrons, especially our younger ones, to use all the technology out there, but with more awareness.
With National Quilting Day upon us, the Dormann Library wants individuals to come and try their hand at making a quilted shamrock from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16 from. All ages welcome to this free event.  No special skills needed.
