Food Bank of the Southern Tier welcomes three new board members to its Board of Directors: Robert (Bob) Grissom, Krista Matia, and Peter Newman.
The leadership of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier is comprised of a diverse group of individuals from the community representing the food, banking, healthcare, non-profit and other industries within the Food Bank’s six-county service area. Board members meet five times each year, and are tasked with providing guidance and assuring sound fiscal management of the Food Bank's resources.
Bob Grissom, Vice President & General Manager at WETM TV
Bob attended Montana State University and graduated in 1971 with a BS degree in Broadcast Journalism from Oklahoma State University.
Bob returned to Elmira in 2011 after having lived here from 1990 to 2000. In addition to his service with the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce Bob has previously served on the board of directors of the American Red Cross and the Elmira Downtown Kiwanis Club. He currently resides in Elmira, NY.
Krista Matia, Marketing Specialist at Welliver in Montour Falls
Krista graduated from Elmira College in 2009 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with specializations in Marketing, Management, Managerial Accounting, and Economics.
Krista has been with Welliver for three years and oversees the development and execution of the company's marketing and business development initiatives. This includes brand awareness, client outreach strategy, advertising, public relations, sales, recruiting and special events. She also sits on two internal committees, Welliver Young Professionals and Professional Development.
In addition to working at Welliver, Krista is part of the local Toastmasters club, part of the planning committee for the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce, and on the gala committee for the Southeastern Steuben County Habitat for Humanity. She currently resides in Horseheads, NY.
Peter G. Newman, Regional President, M&T Bank Southern New York Region
Peter graduated from Bucknell University in 1989 with a BA in Economics and subsequently received a Masters in Business Administration from Binghamton University. In 2011, he completed an executive education program in leadership at the University of Michigan.
As regional president Peter is responsible for one of M&T Bank’s sixteen regions, with a geography encompassing the 10 counties running along New York’s Southern Tier including the cities of Corning, Elmira, Ithaca, Cortland and Binghamton.
Community involvement includes Chairman for UHS Foundation, Treasurer for Community Foundation for South Central New York, Treasurer for Union Endicott Education Foundation, Director for Ideal Senior Living Center, Inc., Finance Committee Chair for Church of the Holy Family, Trustee for Broome Community College Foundation, and member of the Binghamton University School of Management Advisory Board. Peter resides in Endwell, New York with his wife, Jacquelyn, and their three boys.
