Bath volunteer firefighters responded to a fire around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at 7436 Old Hammondsport Rd. First Assistant Fire Chief Dave Dowdle said firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, which started in a wood stove in the home owned by Merle Campbell. The Campbell family was able to return to their home, which was insured, and declined the assistance of the American Red Cross, Dowdle said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
