Barbara Elizabeth (Emerson) Sutton, 66, passed away at home on August 26, 2017.

Barbara Elizabeth (Emerson) Sutton, 66, passed away at home on August 26, 2017. She was born on September 23, 1950 in Bath, NY to Richard James and Mary Ellen (Coon) Emerson. Barb married her sweetheart, David, in the Los Angeles Temple on February 19, 1972. That same year they moved to Massachusetts and have lived in Palmer for the past 12 years, previously of Wilbraham, Longmeadow, Westfield, and Agawam.

She was very active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Barb has served in many capacities, including at the Boston and Hartford Temples. For 18 months, Barb and Dave served a mission in Moscow, Russia for the Church. She also served with her husband as managers for the Bishop’s Storehouse in Worcester.

Besides the Church, family was most important to Barb. She also loved to read and travel, and will be remembered for her selfless service, her compassionate heart, and
ready smile.

Besides her mother, Barb will be deeply missed by her husband of 45 years, their children, Shauna Swenson (Jeffrey) of Meridian, ID, Michael Sutton (Kristy) of Ocala, FL, Kevin Sutton (Caty) of Montpelier, VT, and Timothy Sutton of Northampton, nine grandchildren, her sister, Diane Diesel of Bath, NY, her brother David Emerson (Cathy) of Delmar, MD, five nieces, and two nephews, plus countless other family members and friends.

A brief burial service was held at Woodland Dell Cemetery in Wilbraham on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 2:00pm.

The funeral service was held at the Ludlow Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (584 West Street, Ludlow, MA 01056) on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00am. A luncheon
followed.
