Alice I. MacBride, 97, formerly of Turnpike Road, and a resident of the Taylor Health Center, passed away Monday evening (Nov. 20, 2017) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.

Alice I. MacBride, 97, formerly of  Turnpike Road, and a resident of the Taylor Health Center, passed away Monday evening (Nov. 20, 2017) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath.

Born in Bath on May 8, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Eben and Flossie (Inscho) Palmer. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Lewis MacBride; her two brothers, Roger Palmer and Clair Johnson and her sister, Doris Lyon.

A graduate of Haverling Central School, Alice retired from the former Grant’s Store in Bath where she loved her job being a clerk and will be remembered for being very conscientious.

Alice volunteered her time at the Taylor Health Center and as an Ombudsman for the Office of the Aging at several local nursing homes.

Her loving family includes her four children, Mona (Earl) Sherwood of Avoca, Carolie (Frank) Guilbault of Richfield Springs, N.Y., Ronald (Elaine) MacBride of Island, Kentucky and Marilyn MacBride (Mary Ann Phibbs) of Albany, N.Y.; her seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen (Irving) Amundson of Rapid City, S.D.; as well as her nieces and nephews.

The Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St. in Avoca is honored to serve the family of Alice I. MacBride.

Callings hours are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 30, 2017) at the Howard Union Church, where a funeral and committal service will be held following callings hours at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. James Pearce officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Towlesville.
