BATH, NY.; Mary L. Longwell, 87, peacefully passed away at her home on Ash St. on Friday evening (April 20, 2018).

Born in Hornell on Sept. 19, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Donald and Hazel (Reamer) Francis.   On  June 3, 1950                       she was married at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath to  Alfred “Mike” Longwell, who predeceased her. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Betty Battles and her two brothers, Donald Francis and James Francis.

A lifelong resident of Bath, Mary was a graduate of Haverling High School.

She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.; and especially loved to attend all of her grandchildren’s activities.

For many years Betty was  involved with the Welcome Wagon in Bath  and was an active member of the Centennary United Methodist Church. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Bath Country Club for about 40 years and enjoyed volunteering for the LPGA for about 20 years.

Surviving are her three daughters, Susan Longwell of Bath, Terri “TK” (Paul) Marcellus of Watkins Glen and Kim (David) Hobbs of Bath; her five grandchildren, Jason “Jake” Longwell of Geneva, Heather (Brad) Farrow of Long Island City, Michael (Katy) Hobbs of Corfu, Logan Hobbs of Rochester and Ryan Ross of Bath; her two great-grandchildren, Abigail Hobbs and Mya Farrow; also her sister, Barbara Wager of Bath; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were observed from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday (April 26, 2018) at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath where a memorial service was held following the calling hours at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Nondaga Cemetery in Bath at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to their favorite charity.
