Wayne O. Chrisler, age 78, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Wayne O. Chrisler, age 78, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 surrounded by his family. Through many surgeries and months of hospitalizations, Wayne fought cancer with his quiet dignity with never one complaint or expression of self pity. 

 He was born on January 21, 1940 in Bath, NY, to the late Otto and Hazel (Olmsted) Chrisler. Also preceding him in death was his sibling, Arden Masso. Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years; Gayle (Mattice) Chrisler; daughters, Nichole Winkler (Jon) and Heather Matczak (Jon); granddaughters, Charissa Carpenter, Madelyn Carpenter, Abigayle Macy; and brother in law, Gary Mattice (Ann). 

Wayne spent his younger years growing up in Wallace, NY working with his father on their Olmsted Hill potato farm. He was class valedictorian graduating in 1958 from Avoca Central School. Wayne was a three sport athlete in high school and also was a member of the high school band. Wayne received an associate’s degree in mechanical technology from Alfred Tech and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. Wayne worked as an engineer at Delphi in Rochester before being transferred to their manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio. He retired in 1999 but continued working as a corporate consultant for a number
of years. 

Funeral services were held at the Tobias Funeral Home on August 18 in Dayton, Ohio. Wayne’s final resting place is David’s Cemetery in Dayton.
