Delores R. Sonner Bigelow (Dee) Zimar, 87, passed away on July 28, 2010 at her home.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1923 in Corning, and was the last surviving child of Charles and Elsie Kuen Sonner.
She was a cub scout leader, religious instructions teacher, blood bank volunteer, member of the Truth Organization, avid bird watcher and bowled for Fries Electric until she was 80 years old.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Frank Zimar who she wed on Dec. 28, 1957, he passed away on Feb. 17, 1995; her two infant children; her parents; siblings, Charles, Florence, Carl, Leo, Viola, Vincent, Charles Claude (Sonny) and Donnie Sonner.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Linda) Bigelow of Mt. Laurel, NJ, James (Candy) Zimar of Pulteney, Bill (Nancy) Zimar of Avon, NY, Donald Zimar of Manassas, VA and Rich (Heidi) Zimar of Forestville, NY; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends called from 1-3 p.m. Friday at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport where funeral services were held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Donald Peek officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hammondsport Vol. Ambulance Corp., PO Box 202 Hammondsport, NY 14840 or the Pulteney Vol. Ambulance Corp. PO Box 56 Pulteney, NY 14874.
