Barbara Burns Muller, 91, lifelong resident of Bath, passed away July 6, 2010. She was born May 5, 1919 in the Buena Vista area. Mrs. Muller graduated from Mansfield University with a Masters Degree in education.  She was an elementary school teacher for 33 years having taught in Sonea, Avoca and finishing her career at Haverling in Bath.  She had a strong presence in education as she was the driving force in naming the elementary school “Dana Lyon”.  She always enjoyed seeing many of her former students.  Barbara always helped with her husband’s business’ at the Farmers Livestock Market, American Agriculturist Insurance and Turk’s Used Furniture.
She is survived by her husband, Frank ‘Turk’ Muller, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage last December; her daughter, Sue (Robert) Bennett of Bath; son, Steven Muller of Bath; grandsons, Dr.’s Brian (Kim) Bennett of Auburn, NY, Douglas Muller of Accord, NY, David Muller of Georgetown, Washington, DC and Ryan Muller of Bath; great grandsons, Nathaniel, Andrew and Owen Bennett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Burns, Phyllis and Ronald Nielsen, Pat and George Muller and Betty Hopkins and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12 at The First Presbyterian Church of Bath with Reverend Gary Brown officiating.
Memorial donations in Mrs. Muller’s name may be made to the Lake Salubria Association, 6839 Lake Salubria Drive, Bath, NY 14810, Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care11751 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830 and the First Presbyterian Church of Bath, 6 East Morris Street, Bath, NY 14810.
