Mignonette C. “Minnie” Putman, 87, of bath, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 9, 2013 at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.
Born in Apalachin, NY on December 30, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Garrahan. She was married in Thurston to George A. Putman, who predeceased her on July 25, 1980. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Geraldine Stevens in 2010; her son, Arthur “Chib” Putman in 1965; her sister, Joyce Ann Garrahan Peak; and her two brothers, Donald and Bruce Garrahan.
A former resident of Thurston and Corning, Minnie has resided in Bath for about the past 12 years. Before her marriage she lovingly cared for her brothers and sisters. For 30 years she was employed as salesperson for Friendly Home Toy Parties and also worked for Westinghouse in Bath, Nichols Discount Department Store and later Pharmhouse in Corning.
Minnie dearly loved her family and cherished the times she spent with them.
Surviving are her three daughters, Georgianna (Kenneth) Dickson, Cynthia (Charles) Clark all of Bath and Suzie (James) Derick of Big Flats; her son, Edward (Judy) Putman of Thurston; her son-in-law, Richard H. Stevens of Cohocton; her 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; her two half sisters, Kathy (Dean) Metcalf and Carol Spears; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private calling hours and funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath, 107 E. Steuben St. Bath. Interment will be in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Minnie’s memory to their favorite charity.
