Michael C. VanGelder, 54, of the Back Valley Road passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
He was born Feb. 3, 1956 in Bath, the son of Charles A. and Liselotte Frehe VanGelder.
Michael was a boat restorer and carpenter in this area and also was a carpenter in Buffalo and he loved nature.
Surviving are his mother, Liselotte VanGelder, brother; Steven Van-Gelder of Hammondsport; sister, Pamela (Darrell) Riddle of Tulsa, OK; fiance, Karen DeMace of Savona; aunt and uncle Richard and Betty VanGelder of Lima, NY; and many cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles A. Van Gelder in 1993.
Friends called from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30 at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Deacon David LaFortune officiated and interment was held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.
