This past March, in reporting the results of its annual “State of the News Media” survey, the Pew Research Center found that government coverage on local television news has been cut in half since 2005.
One particular candidate for this year’s opening for a Board of Education seat is Pamela Cleveland.
I have really enjoyed my campaign for the Bath Central School Board of Education. It has given me the opportunity to talk with many people in our community about their goals, expectations and hopes for our school district.
It is with great enthusiasm that I have the privilege of submitting this letter in support for Pamela Cleveland, a candidate for the Bath Central School District Board of Education.
To say the least lately, it’s been a whirlwind of days nationally and around the globe – including right here in New York state.
I have known Matt Burns for 14 years. He was an intern of mine in GST BOCES and later a colleague at Coopers BOCES and Campbell Savona Central School.
I am writing to offer my support for Matt Burns, a candidate for the Bath Central School District Board of Education.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, as I am a candidate for a school board position in Bath, NY.
I must respect those that have put up money where their mouth is, instead of presenting made up facts or instead of just saying “not in my backyard.”
The Mossy Bank Committee, volunteers representing a diverse cross-section of the community, wishes to inform the public of some changes at the park. A decision was made to cut a large non-native Norway Spruce tree in the park.
Unlike Thomas Kelly, I’m pleased our Prattsburgh Town Board voted to pay its legal bill to the law firm defending us against the wind developer Ecogen. There are health and safety issues that haven’t yet been resolved.
Sunday, May 5th I will be joining my fellow friends from Bath/Corning/Elmira on a special journey – Walk MS in Corning, NY. This event is very important to me because it raises awareness and money to work toward a world free of multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system.
Earth Day was celebrated nationwide Monday, April 22, but in the village of Bath Earth Day means nothing for a few days prior to this a huge pine tree (Norway spruce) was cut down in the picnic area of Mossy Bank Park, this tree was over 100 years old and in very good condition.
“What would we do without them?”
It’s a thought that comes to mind every time there’s another natural disaster, another emergency, another act of terror like what we saw last week in Boston and in Texas: what would we do without our first responders?
Ashland. Elmira. Bath. Savona. Erwin. Corning. Lindley. Bradford. Southport. Tuscarora. Caton.
What’s one thing these regional communities have in common? Unfortunately, they’ve all been the site of a methamphetamine-related arrest or other incident over the past year. Go back a few years -- or move your finger along the map into the counties west of Steuben or east of Chemung -- and the trail of communities touched by meth keeps spreading.
The intent of this letter is to announce there will be a Memorial Day Program conducted in Bath Saturday, May 25, 2013, beginning at 1 pm. It will take place in Pulteney Park. We are saddened it was not possible to conduct a parade as previously planned due to circumstances beyond everyones' control.
I am sorry I missed the last “Sunday” meeting of the Prattsburgh Town Board.
I regret that three members want to pay attorneys more, to stop wind energy, disregarding global warming.
It’s like the Energizer bunny advertising campaign for the battery that keeps “going and going and going.” In New York State, the challenges keep coming and coming and coming.
April 21-27 is National Volunteer Week, and The Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS) would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteer drivers who support our Steuben Coordinated Transportation program.
April is national Alcohol Awareness Month and the Steuben Council on Addictions is joining other organizations across the country to honor Alcohol Awareness Month to prevent alcohol abuse in our community.
Fun, food and excitement!
