I am writing this as a response to Laurie Sullivan’s letter regarding Prattsburgh.
My husband and I have been seasonal residents for eight years now and very much feel like a part of Prattsburgh.
The people I have met have been warm, friendly and very accepting.
I have always made it a point to do business in town while we are here.
We enjoy going to the local restaurant  for Friday dinner, buying groceries at the “Marketplace”, miscellaneous items at the hardware store and gas at the Mobil station. I know the owners of all four establishments and have also made friends in this town. That is how I heard about this letter.
Having done this only being here part time for seven months each year,
I have to wonder how much effort you’ve put into becoming a member of this community?
While I believe that a community should try to make new people feel welcome, I also believe it is your responsibility to make yourself open to new friendships. I can tell you, I have been open and have been blessed. I miss my “seasonal” town and can’t wait to get back in a few weeks.
