On Sunday, December 6, 2009, I had the pleasure of attending the Pearl Harbor Survivors Memorial Services at the Bath Rod and Gun Club. I attended the event for two reasons, in memory of my father, Carl D. Peters Sr., and to honor Don Bosket. Don’s family was there as well as approximately 100 people who were participating or attending the event. I would like to thank everyone there for keeping a wonderful tradition and hopefully a reminder of other surprise attacks and earlier generations of Americans that dealt with it. God bless you Don Bosket and all the other patriots.
While at the event, I had a chance to talk with Tom Bosket and all of family and friends, I expressed to Tom on how I have admired his quiet, unassuming style of leadership as Campbell Town Supervisor and I was impressed with the conditions of the town roads and facilities. I asked Tom if he would object to me writing a letter to the editor and Tom graciously agreed. Excellent job Tom, and thanks to your family for all their support to help make it happen, please consider taking your experience and knowledge on to other forms of government.
A couple of other guys I’m proud to know are Gene Buchanan and Carl Overhiser of the Savona Fire Department. We are blessed to have a great group of guys and gals in SFD and I could name many more deserving recognition but Geno and Carleo are the salt of the earth.
Finally, my kin, aka, 827th Engineers Company out of Horseheads, New York are set to deploy in Febuary 2010. For many of these soldiers it is their second or third deployment, so we really need to give them a good send-off. NOW HEAR THIS! ALL HANDS ON DECK! I’m calling all retirees, former members, friends, family, civic organizations of our wonderful military heritage in this area to show support, my name is in the phone book, lets support our local troops now and throughout their deployment. God Bless America! Semper Fidelus!
