This past weekend, I took my dog to James St. Park. I enjoy going to the park because of the walking trails. It is such a nice area and I wish that something similar existed in Bath. In previous visits to the park I have had to limit which path we take in order to avoid cigarette smoke. Since I am not around it that often, I am very sensitive to the smell. I also worry how it affects my dog. Pets can develop respiratory infections and even asthma when exposed to secondhand smoke. Plus, discarded cigarette butts are very toxic to dogs. I am excited for the warmer weather so that I can utilize the parks more. I support the tobacco-free policy adopted for James Street Park, Maple City Park and Shawmut Park. It provides a place for me to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors as well as supporting my healthy lifestyle choices.
