Did you know that 6,700 in your area received health care assistance last year; 18,000 people in crisis received assistance to meet basic needs; 4,200 children received after school programs; 800 women & children received safety and advocacy from domestic violence; 3,000 older adults or people with disabilities received home delivered meals and 25,000 received the assistance provided by using the 2-1-1 helpline?
What if you knew that this was only a fraction of the needs from those who are experiencing crisis of one sort or another?  It is not imaginable to consider helping people on a singular basis.  However, thanks to the many individuals willing to give each year to United Way of the Southern Tier, the above numbers of people received the help they needed to improve their lives. Additionally, 3,500 citizens had help preparing their tax returns for 2008 thanks to United Way’s free tax assistance program.  Creating Assets, Savings and Hope “CA$H” brought back nearly $6 million to working families, individuals and therefore our communities.
Our United Way is a means for local citizens to join together and address the critical needs of people and the issues that affect us in our communities.  It enables us to form partnerships which will create measurable impact for good.  Feel good, by doing good, consider becoming a partner with our critically important and amazing United Way.
