I am writing in reference to our state budget and taxes. Our legislature is made up of grown men who can't agree or set a budget on time.
The legislature knows when the time line is due! What does it take to set down a group of grown college-educated, "elected by the people" who trust you to make a decision in which you are "in the know" of when it is due.
I am amazed by what our so-called governor Paterson cannot "see" or understand. Taxes are not the answers for problems the elected officials have overseen coming ahead. It should not be the taxpayers' responsibility to get our politician out of the hole we are in.
I work all year and pay taxes. When I file at the start of the year I expect to get back what I paid and worked for. Not to be told that MY money may be withheld to cover the state or pad their budget.
I paid it in - now pay me my dues, not tell me the old "check's in the mail" line.
What will it take to make New Yorkers wake up? A rebellion or a tea party? Give us respect for being Americans. Mr. Paterson does not have both oars in the water and has a hole in his screen door.
