BATH — Prattsburgh won its 11th SCAA crown on Wednesday, as the Vikings defeated Jasper-Troupsburg 82-53 in Bath.

“It’s great [to win the tournament], the kids are excited and its a great stepping stone going in to sectionals,” Prattsburgh head coach Brian Putnam said. “The kids always look forward to the Steuben County Tournament.”

The Vikings jumped out to a 22-9 lead after the first quarter, but the Wildcats responded with a 25-13 second quarter to pull them within one at halftime.

Jeff Gilbert hit three 3-pointers in the first half for Prattsburgh, as Garrett Socola and Mason Putnam battled foul trouble.

Collin Cornish powered Jasper-Troupsburg in the first half with 16 points and Connor VanGorden chipped in with eight points.

The second half was all Vikings, as they outscored the Wildcats 47-19.

“Our defense in three of our four quarters was very good,” Putnam said. “I thought we did a great job in the second half to only give up 19 points.”

Gilbert finished with 27 points for the Vikings and Socola added 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Cornish finished with 22 points for the Wildcats and VanGorden had 16.

Prattsburgh earns a bye in the first round of sectionals as the top seed.
