WATKINS GLEN - IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship competitors practiced in preparation for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on Friday.

Pipo Derani posted the fastest time of the day, running 1:34.696 (129.2 mph) in the No. 2 Tequila Patron ESM/Nissan DPI.

Co-driver Ryan Dalziel took second in the opening session with a lap of 1:35.530 (128.1 mph). Scott Sharp will complete the team’s driver lineup.

“The track suits our car,” said Derani. “This track is smooth since it was repaved not that long ago, so that helps a lot with our car. We need to improve a few things here and there to suit our driving style, but it was pretty much where it should be and I’m happy with it.”

This is the second year after the repave in 2016.

Bruno Senna (1:35.293) and Olivier Pla (1:35.377) followed Derani in the Prototype class.

Patricio O’Ward was the fastest in the Prototype Challenge class (PC) class with a lap of 1:39.347 (123.2 mph) in the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports ORECA FLM09 also driven by James French and Kyle Masson.

Gustavo Yacaman (1:40.413) and Don Yount (1:41.102) finished second and third, respectively in the Prototype Challenge class.

Joey Hand was first in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class with a lap of 1:43.115 (118.7 mph) in the No. 66 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT co-driven by Dirk Meuller. Teammate Richard Westbrook (1:43.226) in the No. 67 Ford GT co-driven by Ryan Briscoe took second place

Katherine Legge took first place in GT Daytona Class (GTD) in 1:45.528 (115.6 mph) in the Michael Shank Racing w/ Curb-Agajanian Acura NSX GT3 co-driven by Andy Lally.
