CORNING - Genesee swept Corning in both the boys and girls game on Wednesday in Corning with the Cougars taking the girls game 3-2 in overtime and the boys picking up a 9-0 win.
In the girls game, Corning took an early 1 to 0 lead when Victoria Finn found the back of the net off a Mackenzie Warner assist 3 minutes into the game.
Victoria would find the net again in the 40th minute off a Kalista Swan assist. Corning took a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Genesee would the up the game with 13 minutes to go.
The Cougars were awarded a penalty kick with a minute to go for the victory.
Morgan price finished in net with seven saves on 10 shots.
"I thought we played Corning played strong defense throughout," Corning head coach Kyle Leach said.
In the boys game, Genesee got offensive, winning 9-0.
The Cougars outshot the Red Barons 28-3 on the night and led 3-0 at halftime.
Tate Dean had two goals to lead Genesee and Glenn Holmes added a goal on five shots.
Corning goalie Tyler Morehouse posted 19 saves.
"Hats our to our guys, they fought hard to the end despite the score," Corning head coach Adam Robinson said. We’re looking forward to getting back out there this weekend.”
The Red Barons will host Erie Community College on Saturday with the boys game beginning at 12 p.m. and the girls game slated to start at 2 p.m.
