VESTAL - Both the Corning boys and girls picked up 4-1 wins against Vestal on Thursday in a STAC bowling matchup.

For the boys, Derik Lisi had a 663 series with games of 235, 200 and 228, Ja’Ovian Fisher rolled a 229 game and Tanner Kizis posted a 600 series with a 200, 218 and 182 game.

“I am proud of this group of boys, they continue to work to hone their craft,” Corning head coach Eric Kizis said. “Tonight was a nice first win for us on the road. Jay Fisher and Tanner Kizis bowled their first varsity matches tonight and were fantastic.

“I am extremely proud of Tanner bowling his first ever 600 series and the only 600 series we have had this season by a bowler other than Derik Lisi.”

Nick Lapicola had a 586 series for the Golden bears including games of 210, 185 and 191.

For the girls, Corning was led by Brittney Millhollen’s 527 series with games of 202, 199, and 126. Meghan Sturdevant had a 505 with 161, 162, and 182 games.

“Tonight was one of those nights where the girls had to work hard for every point they earned,” said Kizis. “Nothing came easy tonight, we need to continue to work on improving covering spares. I’m proud of the time and effort each of these girls are putting in to be better. They are a good cohesive unit who are improving with each match.”

Taylor Marcello had a 560 series for Vestal with games for 247, 156 and 157.

Non-league wrestling Wrestling

Bath 33, Wellsville 27

WELLSVILLE - Bath topped Wellsville 33-27 on Thursday.

Adam Pickering won at 126 pounds for the Rams in :51 seconds via pin fall. Dain Becker picked d up a pin fall victory at the 2:46 mark at 152.

Devon Rickard (160 pounds) and Gerrit Clark (170 pounds) each posted 5-1 decision wins for the Rams.

Keegan Adams posted a pin fall victory at 195 pounds in :42 seconds and Brody Brotz won a 9-3 decision at 220 for Bath.

Bryce Beckwith (138 pounds), Cody Hurlburt (145 pounds) and Mekham Dorrough (285 pounds) picked up wins for Wellsville.

STAC Wrestling

Corning 61, Ithaca 12

ITHACA - Corning traveled to Ithaca on Wednesday and posted a 61-12 victory.

For Corning, Ethan Hart posted a 16-1 victory at 113 pounds, Drew Witham won by pin fall at 120 pounds, Jeremiah Adams posted a pin fall victory at 126 pounds at the 2:25 mark.

Chase Daudelin picked up a 15-0 decision at 132 pounds and Jeremy Spear won by pin fall at the 5:27 mark in the 145 weight class for the Hawks. Nathan Maples picked up a close 10-9 decision victory at 170 pounds.

Darren Rich (138 pounds) and Warren Russel (285 pounds) recorded the lone victories for Ithaca.

We wrestled very good, the kids were all really tough and didn’t give up any easy points,” Corning head coach Cam Daudelin said. “I bumped up 8th grader Ethan Hart from 106 lbs to 113 lbs to face a Junior (Kaya Cruz) Ethan came up big with a Tech Fall 16 to 1.”

Corning will wrestle Binghamton at home on Wednesday the 20th 6 p.m.  start time.

SCAA girls basketball

Addison 56, Campbell-Savona 37

CAMPBELL-SAVONA - Addison posted a 56-37 win over Campbell-Savona on Thursday.

“Addison shot very well tonight,” Campbell-Savona head coach Dawn Shanks said.

The Knights outscored the Panthers 29-13 in the first half and never looked back.

Hannah Roy led Addison with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Taylor Terwilliger added three points and 11 assists.

STAC Boys basketball

Elmira 60, Corning 48

CORNING - Elmira topped Corning 60-48 on Thursday.

After a 16-6 first quarter for the Hawks, the Express stormed back with a 20-10 second quarter to tie the score at halftime.

Elmira outscored Corning 34-22 in the second half to claim the victory.

Jason Rodriguez led the Hawks with 19 points and Jordan Haggard added eight.

The Express had three players in double figures led by Luke Baldwin with 19, Cade Marks added 15 and Nahjor Mack chipped in 14.

Corning will travel to Ithaca in its next contest on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
