ELMIRA - The 19th annual Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Inn Classic will begin today in Elmira and will showcase the top teams in the area.
The annual holiday tournament has become a staple in the community and will feature a total of 40 total teams including 26 varsity and 14 junior varsity squads.
Single day passes include, $3 for students and $5 for adults. Tournament-long passes are available for $10 for students and $15 for adults.
The tournament is sponsored by the Josh Palmer Fund, a 501 (c3) Non-Profit Charity designed to assist local cancer patients and their families with the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis and its treatments.
The Fund was founded in 1999 by Josh Palmer, Jim Palmer, Mary Palmer, Ron Allison and Bill Limoncelli. In 18 years, the Josh Palmer Fund has provided almost 1.2 million dollars in funds for local cancer patients.
The Josh Palmer Fund also sponsors a scholarship that is awarded annually to four high school students.
