CORNING - The Indians topped the Hawks 71-41 on Monday at Corning-Painted Post High School in a Southern Tier Athleric Conference girls basketball matchup.
Kaci Donovan got Owego off to a fast start with a 9-2 personal run that included three 3-pointers. The Indians kept the pressure on throughout the first quarter, forcing multiple turnovers for a 24-7 lead at the end of the first eight minutes.
Kenna Newman led Corning with four points in the first quarter.
Owego added to its lead in the second quarter, with Donovan netting five points in the frame and Anna Felice added four points for a 45-20 at the break.
The Indians didn't let up in the final 16 minutes outscoring the Hawks 25-21.
Donovan led all scorers with 25 points in the contest, Anna Feliz had 24 points and Genevive Coleman chipped in seven points.
Newman had 14 points for the Hawks and Rachel Plumley added nine points.
Corning (2-8) will host Elmira on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. in its next contest.
