ELMIRA - Elmira picked up a 54-37 win over Ithaca at home on Tuesday.

The Express got off to a quick start, taking an 11-2 advantage after eight minutes.

"Defense, when we’re good on defense it picks up our all around game and that’s what happened to start," Elmira head coach Ryan Johnson said.

Itaca responded in the second quarter, outscoring Elmira 13-11 to cut the lead to 22-15 at halftime.

Elmira came out in the third quarter with a 19-6 advantage to put the game away.

"We were a little sloppy in the beginning of the game, but came out in the third quarter and established ourselves," said Johnson.

Taiesean Horton led the Express with 14 points, Dan Fedor recorded 11 points and Luke Baldwin contributed 10 points.

Ismail Abdur-Razzaaq had eight points for the Little Red and Issac Butler added eight points.

With the win, Elmira improves to 12-5 and moves to within an Ithaca loss of clinching the STAC West title.
