CORNING - Corning's Erick Santamaria put pen to paper to acknowledge his committment to play Division II lacrosse at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. at Corning-Painted Post High School on Thursday.

"I got a message from the coach saying he was very interested in me - so I decided to give it a closer look," Santamaria said.

Men's lacrosse was just recently added in the spring of 2016 and Santamaria is ready for the prospects of helping be part of a program that will just be in its fourth season when he arrives.

"I'm excited about helping build a newer program. I met some of the guys at some camps there and they seem very cool," said Santamaria.

Erick has been competing in lacrosse for 7 years, two of them with the Corning Hawks varsity boy’s lacrosse team as well as playing on the the football team the past 4 years.

Santamaria will be a key member of the Hawks defense this season.

"Erick is a hard worker who is willing to listen to constructive criticism to improve his game," Corning head coach Chris Hogue said. "I'm expecting big things from Erick because he is an important part of our team both as a defender and as a leader."

Santamaria intends to major in Biology along with pursuing a career in Physical Therapy
