ELMIRA - The Little Red topped the Express 55-44 in a STAC West tiebreaker on Monday in Elmira.

"They were just the better team tonight," Elmira head coach Ryan Johnson said.

Isaac Butler and Luke Baldwin paced Ithaca and Elmira, respectivley as the former netted six and the later posted seven as both teams were knotted at nine at the end of the first eight minutes.

The Little Red pulled ahead in the second quarter, outscoring the Express 16-12 for a 25-21 halftime lead.'

Elmira battled back in the third as Nahjor Mack posted the first seven points of the third quarter to give Elmira a 28-25 lead, but Ithaca closed the quarter on a 12-4 run for a 37-32 lead after three quarter.

Ithaca continued its strong play in the final frame, outscoring Elmira 18-6 in the fourth quarter.

"We put them on the foul line a lot in the second half, said Johnson. We didn't finish easy ones in the paint. They played good agressive defense and contested every shot."

Butler led the Little Red with 18 points, Zach Peacock added 14 points and Jordanny Cuevas-Marte chipped in 13 points.

Mack had 14 points for the Express.

Elmira finishes the regular season 12-7 and Ithaca ends at 13-6.
