CAMPBELL-SAVONA - Campbell-Savona honored four seniors and picked up a 7-4 win over Hornell Thursday in a non-league contest.
"To go out with a win on senior night, one that wasn't easy, it was a good win for our four seniors," Campbell-Savona head coach Chris Austin said.
Jordan Cole, a senior, tossed a complete game for the Panthers punching out five and socked a home run in her 3 RBI effort.
"Shes' been rock solid all year long and for her career for us," said Austin.
Campbell-Savona scored all seven of its runs in the first three innings. Hayley Karr contributed an RBI and two hits and Leah Robie added two hits including a triple for the Panthers.
"We started out strong, we were hitting the ball sharp and capitlaized on the walks and had strong at bats," Austin said.
Hornell battled back with three of its four runs in the last two frames, but the Panthers held on. For the Red Raiders, Jayla Krupp was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Mackenzie Gardner was 3-for-4 and Rebecca Bacon added two hits and an RBI.
"Gotta give Hornell credit, they didn't quit and battled up until the last out," said Ausitn.
Ashley Linderman tossed six innings and punched out two for Hornell and walked six batters.
Campbell-Savona finishes its regular season 14-1 and hopes to ride some momentum of a great season in to sectional play.
"It was a good season, but the girls are hungry, they want more," Austin said. "They've lost the last three years in the sectional semifinals, they want to get over that hurdle."
