WILLOWCREEK - Horseheads topped Vestal 204-215 on a hot day at Willowcreek golf course Tuesday.
"It was a big win for us," Horseheads head coach Ed Browning said. "Vestal has been a good team for a couple of years."
Dan Huten was the overall medalist for the Blue Raiders, shooting a 38. Seth Conway had a 39, Zach Locke carded a 42, Nick Murray contributed a 42 and Matt Printup had a 44.
For Vestal, Dan Harding carded a 39 followed by Luke Barney (40), Zach Kessler (42), Sid Nippani (45) and Chris Thomas (49)
Horseheads (3-0) will host Elmira Thursday at Willowcreek at 11 a.m.
Corning 221, Elmira 238
ELMIRA - Corning improved to 3-1 with a 221-238 win over Elmira Tuesday in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference golf matchup at Mark Twain Golf Course
Tyler Thomas and Drew Beall each carded a 42 to lead the Hawks.
Ben Tubbs shot a 44, Luca Neally carded a 46 and Carson Crane chipped in a 47 for Corning.
Brock Ohart of Elmira earned overall medalist on the day, shooting a 39.
Reilly Hooper had a 44, Jacob Barnes shot a 47, Cameron Strykowski had a 50 and Alex Simmons had a 58 to round out the scoring for the Express.
Corning will host Ithaca at Corning Country Club Thursday in its next contest.
SCAA girls soccer
Campbell-Savona 1, Prattsburgh 0
PRATTSBURGH - Campbell-Savona traveled to Prattsburgh and came away with a 1-0 win Tuesday in a Steuben County Athletic Association girls soccer matchup.
Emily Ribble netted the lone goal of the contest for the Panthers with seven minutes left in the second half on a Corinne Morris assist.
Campbell-Savona outshot Prattsburgh 24-2 in the contest.
Hailey Joesph had 16 saves for the Vikings and Jessica Elliott stopped two shots for the Panthers.
"I was really happy with our passing and I thought we moved the ball really well," Campbell-Savona head coach Robert Hesch said. "I thought we had some really good opportunities despite the score only being 1-0."
Campbell-Savona (1-0) will play in its home tournament Thursday against Odessa-Montour at 7 p.m.
STAC boys soccer
Vestal 2, Corning 0
CORNING - Vestal topped Corning Tuesday, 2-0 in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference boys soccer matchup.
Dan Mansfield netted both goals for the Golden Bears, with one in each half.
"Defenseively, I thought we played well," Corning head coach Steve Mastronardi said. "Offensively we had a lot of chances, but just couldn’t put one home. All in all, great group of young kids and they played right with one of the best teams in the STAC."
Vestal outshot Corning 16-12 in the contest and Griffin Huff made 14 saves in goal for the Hawks.
Corning (0-1) will travel to Elmira Thursday at 5 p.m. in its next contest.
LCAA boys soccer
Haverling 9, Penn Yan 0
BATH - Bath got offensive in its 9-0 win over Penn Yan Tuesday in a Livingston County Athletic Association matchup.
Sam Arnts, Thomas Binkowski, Nick Strong, Austin Stratton, Bradley Pendle, Keefer Calkins and Justin Marshall had single goals and Evan Czajkowski had two goals for the Rams.
Calkins, Teddie Robbins, Dylan Hoad and Jordan Deats all had one assist and Binkowski added two assists.
"It was nice to have eight different goal scorers tonight," Haverling head coach Matt Hill said. "A few guys had their first varsity goal tonight."
Haverling improves to 2-0 and will travel to Avon on September 8 at 6:30 p.m. in its next contest.
Hammondsport 3, Penn Yan 2
HAMMONDSPORT - Hammondsport volleyball defeated Penn Yan in its first game of the season in 3 sets to 2, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24.
Brianna Pratt had eight aces and 43 setter assists. Julia Bennett led at the net with 21 kills and added in 12 digs. Shelby Sherman had 10 kills and 10 digs.
The Lakers' next game is Wednesday, September 5th at Arkport.
