The Painted Post Muzzleloaders Winter League 2011-12 is open to any black powder gun with open iron sights and shooting lead bullets. Shooting will be off-hand. Scopes, cartridge guns, in-lines and stand-up cross sticks permitted if there is sufficient interest to justify a separate class.
Shooting on alternating weekends, first and third Sundays at 1 p.m.
The dates published will avoid conflict with other club events.
Entry fee will be a $5 league fee and $3 per shoot. Trophies will be presented at a luncheon after the last shoot.
There will be a total of eight scheduled shoots, shooting a different course of fire on each weekend. Each course of fire will be shot twice. We will count the best score from each course of fire for a total league score, possible 600 points.
The courses of fire will be four different types of targets:
The woods walk, 15 various size targets at unmarked distances.
Silhouette targets using re-settable knock down targets.
Novelty target plus clay pigeons, swinging targets, etc.
Bulls eye targets in a three-distance aggregate, 25, 50, and 100 yards.
Sundays at 1 p.m., started December 18
Woods walk: February 19 starting at 9 a.m.
Silhouette: March 4
Novelty: March 18
Bulls Eye: February 5 and April 2
February 19 will be the Annual Winter Woods Walk (starting at 9 a.m.), which includes tomahawk and knife throwing, flint and steel fire starting and primitive archery. For Winter League shooters we will count the target score as the league score.
Awards dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 14.
For more information call Ron at 607-523-8876.
