With just 5 days to go in Budget Travel magazine’s online competition to decide the “Coolest Small Town in America 2012,” Hammondsport (Steuben County) is the only town in New York State still in the running for the title and one of 10 finalists for this year’s award.
As a result, I'm glad to be joining the Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce to help encourage our support for one of our great local small towns and take this opportunity to put the Finger Lakes region on the national map once again.
According to the magazine, Budget Travel readers nominated a record 647 towns from across America this year. That number is now down to 10 finalists and, as of this writing, Hammondsport is tied for the lead.
To vote in the “Coolest Small Town in America 2012” contest, visitwww.budgettravel.com.According to the magazine, voters are allowed to vote once every 24 hours.
The contest closes on January 31, 2012.
