Area volunteer firefighters were sent this week back to the storm-ravaged Nassau County.
The Bath Volunteer Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team, and five members of the South Corning Fire Department returned to Nassau County on Long Island in anticipation of the impending nor’easter that hit the area already devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
The team members deploying this time are Assistant Chief Joe Washburn, Captains Mike Fiordo, Sean Walruth and Kyle Lisefski and Firefighters Alfred Brewer II and David Saltsman. The team expected to be deployed as long as 72 hours before returning home.
