NFL commentator and former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino has admitted to having an affair with one of his CBS colleagues that resulted in a child born in 2005, the New York Post reports.

The news comes three days before Marino is scheduled to cover the Super Bowl for the network.

According to the Post report, Donna Savattere, who was a 35-year-old production assistant at CBS in New York when she met Marino, gave birth to their daughter Chloe in June 2005. Marino, who currently has six children with his wife of 28 years, allegedly paid Savattere millions of dollars to keep quiet about the baby and move to Texas temporarily after the birth. Marino has had sporadic contact with Chloe over the years, according to the Post.

"This is a personal and private matter," Marino told the Post in a written statement. "I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved."

Savattere has since returned to New York, and is now married and has another child with her husband, according to the report.
